Here is my synopsis thus far. This is a new novel idea I formulated while listening to Nightwish's 'Over the Hills and Far Away'. I'm not sure if I'll roll with this, I have 2 days to decide I guess! Gabriel Dyer is a man who has everything to gain with the inheritance of the title 'Prince of the Isles', but first he must marry a woman he cares nothing for with the only intentions being to produce an heir. What the royal families' were not aware of was Gabriel's love for Aline Davenport, until he makes a choice to run away with her. When the royal guard of his intended take him for treason, it becomes Aline's mission to return him to his homeland and rightfully by her side. To make her journey across a treacherous sea she must place her trust in a disgraced former naval officer turned pirate and his hand selected brigands.

Excerpt:
WIth this smaller round table she found it to be more intimate than she intended and it brought her closer to him than she had been previously. Now she could smell the faint wisp of alcohol on his breath and an underlying scent of some sort of cologne. Most men in this town did not wear such a commodity and so alluded to her previous presumption that he was not from here. That was the most that he would permit her to deduce before he rose a brow to her expectantly. She had to clear a small lump from her throat before forcing her hands to fold on the table between them, her mug having been left at the previous table; she hadn’t come here to drink.
“I have a business offer for you,” she started simply enough which didn’t garner much from the man as far as emotion went.
“And what makes you think I am here looking for business? I could be well off and simply stopping in for a drink on my way through,”
“We both know how false that statement is. You would not have engaged in conversation if you weren’t looking for something to do. I know you have a ship in the harbor to the west and that you can be hired if the price and temptation are enough,” she revealed to him, which gained another raised brow. He didn’t seem sure on how to take the fact she had done some research. SHe hadn’t just spotted him from across the bar. She knew very little of the man, but after being tested so thoroughly she was sure he was the one she had been looking for.
“And you believe you have something to offer?” He questioned, feigning relaxation by crossing his arms over his chest and leaning back slightly in the chair. He was curious enough to ask a question instead of making statements, it meant she had done her job thus far.
“I have the coin you desire, it is the stipulation you may not like, however,” she came out with. Being so upfront so quickly could be a major mistake in this acquisition dance, but she felt a man like him would not want to be led on. Captains of vessels did not enjoy ‘stipulations’, but she had come this far and would not lie to him about this. She would regret it if she was not forthcoming with him, she was sure of it.
“You’re either very smart or very stupid starting with such a comment,” his voice rumbled as he watched to see her reaction to him. It wasn’t exactly a ‘no’ so she pressed on.
“My intelligence may surpass many of those you have done and will do business with, sir. Making demands of a captain is hardly a new practice. You will be paid plenty, and my stipulations are hardly overbearing. Do you wish me to continue?” She questioned of him with a raised brow this time. She was pushing a little harder now as her patience began to waiver. Each moment she spent on land, Gabriel got a little further from her. She had not exactly planned out what she would do upon landing on the other Isle, but her first concern was getting the passage across the unfriendly sea between her and her love.

So happy to say I finally won a NaNoWriMo! The novel is far from finished but I am just ecstatic to have wrote 50000 words in 30 days!
