Fly around the fire
In and out of desire
I gotta love you, I gotta have you
In and out of desire
I gotta love you, I gotta have you
"Prenez une semaine pour se proteger." Hildegarde Lafarge ordered of her team after the meeting was called, their blue robes billowing in the chilling wind that swept through the Pitch. The blonde hair of one player blew to cover her face, the look of concern and distress being hidden. Things had to be getting bad if they would quit for a week to get their affairs in order 'just in case'. The newest player and the current outsider gazed at the Captain through stringy blonde hair. She could see the pain beneath her hard face. She was spooked, but was trying her best to keep their team together. She had been afraid for a while and a little over a week ago it had been enough to tip her over the edge. She had married a muggle and the Death Eaters had snatched him from their home in Paris. Why they decided to pick on the Captain of the French National team was beyond anyone, but it was enough.
Hildegarde didn't cry and showed an amazing backbone, but with the war looming ever closer she wanted her players to be prepared in ways she hadn't been. Of course Angelique Pierre, the new Chaser since the disappearance of Josephine, didn't have children or a husband to prepare for the possibility with. She heard of how the others were pulling their girls from Beauxbatons and the school was shutting down as Voldemort and his followers started to target a broader range of witch and wizards. This made the blonde formerly of Britain wonder what was becoming of things back home. She lived in France now, but Britain would always be her home. She wondered if Harry was okay and if her former Gryffindor teammates were safely stowed away somewhere.
"Adieu, un cœur jusque-là." The Captain said and each of them kissed their teammates cheek and repeated the saying of their departure. 'Farewell, a heart until then' was usually said in much cheerier times, but this time it left Angelique with sorrow. She may be new to this team, and how she acquired her spot was a depressing story in itself, she was worried she wouldn't see some of them again. Josephine hadn't talked to anyone since she'd disappeared so it often weighed on their minds of whether she was in hiding or dead. Her husband had been found out as a Death Eater and she had gone missing shortly after that. She had never known and it was a wonder if she had become one herself or if she had hid from him in fear. She had traces of muggle blood in her that few knew about.
Angelique stopped thinking about it and turned away from her team, trudging to the locker room. Bastien and Saucet passed her, speaking of how the teams may disband until the end of the 'war'. She sincerely hoped this wouldn't be the case. Quidditch was keeping people going in these dark times, giving them something to talk about besides the loss of families and if the 'boy who lived' was still out there hiding from Voldemort. Quidditch had been her life when she had attended Hogwarts, she could not imagine a time without it. It was her release, her strength, her distraction from the times that were upon them and the times that were to come.
When I kiss you like a lover
That is when we discover
We are burning in the fire
This love will never tire
That is when we discover
We are burning in the fire
This love will never tire
She had spent a day at home and found herself pacing, listening to the radio, buying a paper. She found stories of Harry everywhere and heard the voices of her old friends. She was beginning to worry and thus panic. She was buying into the depressed euphoria sweeping the wizarding world. She was usually a level headed person, but seeing one story made her want to read another. She picked up a Daily Prophet and felt a decision being made. She needed to go home and see how bad things were for herself. Hysteria hadn't quite swept France yet, but she was fearing how Britain was faring. She was worrying about her old friends and family. Most of them had no reason to be in danger, but if the Death Eaters were snatching muggles in France they could be doing worse in their home base.
With very little effort and little baggage she was off to Britain. It had been a little over a year since she'd graduated and Dumbledore's death, but it felt so much longer then that. Life had moved so fast since the funeral. She'd been very lucky since, but how long would her luck hold out? She was alone, most of her family wiped from the map during the first war. When she had been a little girl her mother had been killed as well. It had been deemed an accident, but she knew better now. She knew what her mother’s true identity was, what her own blood was. They would come for her if they found out. Potter was their main concern, but finding they hadn’t truly wiped a line from the wizarding world would certainly make them come for Angelique.
She was thinking of this as she shuffled through Diagon Alley, eyes betraying her sadness. Her fingers ran over the broken door of Olivanders. They had all gotten wands there and it wrecked her to know it was destroyed and he had been taken. She was fortunate nobody close to her had suffered that fate. She shut her eyes and swallowed, pulling her blazer closed over her long sleeve shirt. Strands of hair slipped from her pigtails, whisping past her eyes. She re-opened them and felt a fear striking in her heart. She was lucky to be alive, but she feared she may not be as lucky as she had previously thought.
She turned and decided she had to leave. She had never run from anything in her life, but seeing Diagon Alley so run down and recalling her fate a year ago made her want to flee back to France. She'd made a mistake in coming back. It brought back too many hurtful memories. The death of her mother and the reality her own existence could be snuffed out if anyone figured out what blood ran in her veins. A new identity couldn’t hold forever. Her mother had forced this false identity on her from birth, but someone would notice somewhere along the line. Someone would see Pierre had not been the last name of Rayna and her daughter. She felt someone had figured it out, however. They had gone to kill her mother and had succeeded, but lost their own life in the exchange. This was the only reason Angelique was still alive. If that Death Eater had survived, her own secret would be out.
Shaking, she started to walk fast, nearly jogging down the line of shops. She could apparate, she knew, but she was afraid to do even that. Her head lowered, gaze kept on the ground as she moved down the street. She felt cold all over in recollection of the events and couldn't shake them. So when she nearly ran into someone she gasped and felt a near shriek escape her lips for a fraction of a second. In her delusioned fear she had imagined a Death Eater grabbing her. When she'd collided she had stumbled back on her rump. Her hands pressed on the ground behind her as she looked up and saw the face of someone she recognized, and not one of evil intent. Still shaking she whispered his name. "Capitaine?" She voiced in French, calling him by his old position as her Captain. "Oliver...?" She said his name again, louder this time.
When I tell you that I need you
Please believe that I won't leave you
You're a diamond I'm a heart
Living in this house of cards
Please believe that I won't leave you
You're a diamond I'm a heart
Living in this house of cards
[This will obviously take place during the Deathly Hallows. I have a full synopses/summary of Angelique and events leading up to this if you would like to read it! Just U2U me!]
